8Bit Drummer App Reviews

Simple but gets the job done.

This app is straightforward and simple. Sometimes you dont need all of the options that a larger application like GarageBand offers. Im not a prefessional (or even amateur) musician, so I appreciate that this program is just fun without all of the overhead.

Very fun but can

Ive had a lot of fun with this app, but the patterns I put together do not save? Any troubleshooting answers?

Will Not Open

Says it quit unexpectedly running on late 2010 macbook pro.

bleep bloop

easy to use and super fun.

Missing One Vital Feature...

8Bit Drummer is very intuitive and simple retro video game drum machine that I really wanted to like. Unfortunately saving your compositions is very unreliable endeavor. This makes the app nearly worthless. Cmon VoidBred, fix it! Its a great little app except for the inability to consistently save your work….which it turns out, is a vital feature.

Awesome app at at awesome price.

First, Id like to say that the the app is solid; it doesnt crash and it doesnt freeze. Although, I have ran into a few issues when saving loops within the app, but not too many. The app is nice in that it allows you some room to experiment with the attack, decay, and volume of each sample. This might seem like a limited amount of signal processing, but with the 8 bit drum samples, it goes a long way. The app allows you to export your compositions as WAV files, so further editing of your tracks is easy in Logic, Pro Tools, or whatever DAW you prefer. Also, the tempo selector within 8 Bit Drummer is accurate and syncs perfectly with outside software. There are a few downsides, but they are all completely forgiviable thanks to the awesome price point. 8 Bit Drummer only accommodates 6 tracks, edits in a 16th note format only, and its unchangeable, default time signature is 4/4. It does not allow you to add any sort of swing to your compositions, but the apps ability to export your loops as WAV files allows you to edit them to your hearts content in your prefered DAW. You cant use 8 Bit Drummer as a VST plug-in, but I wouldnt want to use the software in that manner regardless. Overall, if you want to compose 8 bit music, this easy to use software will put you on your way instantly. It doesnt crash, it sounds great, and its only three bucks. VoidBred has made a great little piece of software!

beats do save!!!

you make a beat with the + clear it make the sounds and all... then press + again naming the beat the same as before (say i named it car). if you want one bass line make it and save it... add another part a snare we will say. you can then click on the + naming it car2. thus just the bass line in car and the bass line with snare in car2... so on and so fourth if you wish or if its a new beat different press + (new name) and hit clear and thus a new beat. to save it just stay on it hit + and name it same as you did at first... this is figured out after me having this program for under thirty minutes.... 5stars there should be no save problems now... as oprah would say... !!!loooooooovvvvveee it!!! you know how she do.

Has potential, needs to be a midi plugin

The sounds are great, the layout is fine, but its such a hassle to export every little four count and youre never sure if its going to fit in the mix until you export it and put it there. This would be so much more useful as a midi plugin for Logic and Garageband with a multi-output feature. That way you can edit the beats whenever you want as well as change the bpm and instrument levels if you need to. I have over 30 .wav files of four count beats just for one song. What a headache.

Very useful tool

Thanks for making good software. I use this to piece together sounds for video game scores and sound effects.
